COH - Battle of the Bulge

The Mod will, in its core , stick a lot to the Vanilla Gameplay, but will alter many things.
Our intention is to add a little bit more realism and some units and to reflect the atmosphere of the battles in the Ardennes forest. Historical accuracy is the key.
Overall combat data (range etc) wont be heavily altered. Maybe some tweaking here and there.

All Skins and Maptextures are be changed to winter-looks, BotB also features maps of some
original battlegrounds, like Foy, St.Vith, Bastogne Stoumont and La Gleize, The Celles Pockt, La Roche en Ardennes & more.

At the moment 14 new Maps are integrated.

Gameplay core features:

Doctrines become much more important to your Gameplay. Dependant on which doctrine you choose, you can build different units for each faction. So as you choose armored division as US Player, you may produce unique units like priest,
Jumbo Sherman and M36 tank destroyer.

US trees:

Airborne Division:

becomes the defensive tree. You have a lot of powerful infantry
like airborne infantry, AT-teams and heavy mortars, but only
little choice of heavy artillery or vehicles.
Doctrines will even strenghten your infantries combat value, until
you get full ( and I mean that!!) air support in the late game.

units: engineers,scouts, riflemen, mg ,sniper, airborne infantry, heavy mortars, Antitank squads, vehicle repair squads,

vehicles: jeep, deuce and a half, m3 halftrack, 76mm AT. 57mm AT, m1 75mm Howitzer
Sherman, Sherman Croc, m10

Infantry Division:

still well rounded, with good defensive and artillery units,
combat engineers and fair armor.
Doctrines give you more production bonuses and send armored
combat groups to the battlefield.

units: engineers, scouts ,riflemen, mg ,sniper, combat engineers, rangers, mortars, Company HQ

vehicles: jeep, deuce and a half, m8 Greyhound, m3 halftrack, 57mm AT, m2 105mm Howitzer

Armoured Division:

Like in vCoH, this is the most powerful, but slowest to build
Division... but mobile artillery like priest, and many tanks like
the Sherman Easy Eight and the M36 let you gain the initiative.
You will even receive tank reinforcements by the British.

Fanatism boosts your troops fighting spirit and the hidden
"Operation Griffon" Teams spread sabotage and confusion behind enemy lines.

More realistic infantry:

Infantry squads already have a bar / lMG when built.
Pioneers/Engineers No.s will be limited.
Infantry Squad sizes will be increased by about 80%
Smoke Grenades for Infantry Squads to conceal movement.
Tanks provide heavy cover for infantry.
Some new infantry units like Scouts , armored infantry and Waffen-SS Panzergrenadiere..

More realistic tank combat:

Tanks take only few hits in the rear. Ballistic Weapons have much more range and cause much more damage.
Destroyed engines force the tank to REALLY stall.
Tank Wrecks cannot be crushed by other tanks anymore, and block the way.
(decreased) Smoke screen option for all medium and heavy tanks for retreat manouevers.
Line Engineer Squads cannot repair tanks or vehicles anymore.
Special vehicle repair crews or repair stations have to be used
to repair them.

There are plenty of new tanks and artillery pieces on our plan, but we have to see, how the Object Editor develops.
Luckily for us, Opposing Fronts brought many of the vehicle models we needed.

With the upcoming new Version straíght ahead, I thought it was time to post some new screens.

German 6th Panzerarmy Doctrine, Kampfgruppe Peiper..

Combat Groups have been reduced in Numbers,and heavier restrictions, to lay more emphasize on buildable units.
There are also some tweaks to Doctrine abilities, as well as completely new ones.

In Battle, there are no more territory borders, building or unit selection markers visible.

US Airborne attacking, with Calliope Support

Unit sight range in new BotB is now dynamic. As a unit moves, its sight range derceases, as well as the weapons accuracy.
That gives non moving units advantages for defending. On the other hand, moving units are harder to hit.
A sprinting ability has been added for all combat infantry, thus decreasing sight range even more, but very useful for quick
hit engagements.

Urban Combat in La Roche

Urban combat in BotB has been reworked for the new version.
Abilities like Grenades, Stickies or Fausts are now usable within a building, too.
Units in builduings become invisble and can only be detected within 20 meters,
giving them good ambush opportunity, as they now all can hold fire when inside a building.

The Focke Wulf FW190, one of the new models...
alongside with a US M21 Mortar Carrier Halftrack, a Panther converted to M10
and of course the good old Sturmtiger,
Jagdpanzer IV and Maultier, BotB continues to add new models to the Force Pool.
Lets see what the OE can deliver later on.

The US AT team got an Axis Counterpart, the Panzerschreck team. As in reality,
Schrecks now are operated by specialized crews and cant be upgraded anymore.
The Loader provides support for the gunner, shortening reload times and therefore
the Gunner can concentrate on aiming and has better accuracy. ( US Bazooka team as well )
Both, Schreck and Bazooka teams can ambush when in cover.

No need to.. Volksgrenadiers now can make use of Grenades, too.
Why shouldt they ? At least they are not very good at it, but they
can learn how to do it better. So do all others....

Veterancy has been overworked for the new Version.
Squads now "learn". With each veternacy level, they can spot a little more far, their accuracy grows,
their reload time decreases,they become less easy to suppress, they can shoot a bit more far.... and so on.

You have many "green" troops and just some experienced squads ?
Well, get them near to each other. Experienced Infantry Squad leaders
now provide bonuses not only for their own squad, but for others near them as well.
A bit similar to Company HQ, but less effective , of course.

This could be the last occasion to see an Infantry squad armed with a Panzerschreck.
As said before, Schrecks are now operated by Specialists,
handling that weapon more efective.

But of course, Line-Infantry still has the opportunity to fight aginst tanks.
All German Infantry units are upgradable with Panzerfausts now,
but each bundle has to be bought for the individal unit.

Speaking of upgrades...
In BotB you cant do upgrades in the middle of nowhere anymore.
Infantry can only purchase them, when they are near an HQ or Forward HQ.
Vehicles need to be at a repair station or supply yard, where the upgrade can be applied.

Tank Warfare!!
And now, we are speaking of TANKS!!
You thought that tanks were already a threat in BotB ? Well, fasten seatbelts, please.

Courtesy of Blitzkrieg Mod, all ballistic guns ( Tanks and ATs )
were majorly reworked, using historical penetration data.
One Shot Kills will often be seen, and the appearance of a Kingtiger will freeze the Allies Commanders blood.
( As long as there is no M36 nearby http://forums.relicnews.com/images/smilies/icon_smile_wink.gif )
Turret rotation speed and reload times have been set to historical values, when available.

Range stays about the same, (as in old BotB of course, twice more than in CoH )
whereas AT guns generally have a little more range, due to balancing reasons.
AT guns also camouflage when in cover.

Flanking of tanks has become even more crucial, as you will
experience frontal penetration of panthers and Tigers as a rare gift.
Commander and Gunner upgrades increases the tanks sight range, movement decreases it.
Veterancy gives them hidden abilities, hold fire button prevents them to fire at will.

So prepare for some harsh engagements.

Well, alright. A Bunker. Ever found it strange, that Bunkers and other
heavy emplacements can be built within minutes, as the concrete normally
needs weeks to dry ? Wink Well, we did. In Normandy, such Bunkers can make sense,
as the Atlantic was heavily fortified. A lone forest in Belgium ? During a suprise attack ? No way.
So Bunkers and MG Emplacements have been removed, ( base defenses not ) and
other defensive abilities have been strenghtened.

Medic and Repair Stations can be built seperately, Tank traps are totally uncrushable and
must be blown with Defuses. Barb wire has the chance to ruin vehicles tires or tracks when overrun.
Mines costs have been lowered.

As the new visibility system now is in, combined with the new arms,
seeing the enemy before he sees you, is eminent to win a battle.

BotB provides your scouting units with toggable Googles. When stationary, yYour scouting units
( Scout Infantry, Cycles Jeeps ) can make use of it, increasing their sight range.
While this is active, the unit cant move before untoggled.
Scout Cars like M8, SdKfz 222, 234/1 and 234/2 cant use them by default, but can do so with earned Veterancy.

The repair teams have been altered for the new version as well. Old ones were quite charming, but had
some disadvantages, they took long to run over the map, got lost, repaired what they wanted aor not at all.
Not really the kind of obeying orders you are used to in the military. Grin

New Teams work differently. First of all, ALL german Doctrines now can build them, too, in the Kriegsbarracks,
but need upgrade to Assault phase for it.
The new team consits of two units. The Squad is loaded in a truck when produced, and has to leave it.
Repair is now targetable again, so you can repair ATs guns. The truck itself is quite important.
It contains equipment and stuff, and when near, the engineers repair faster than without the truck.

The new version is delivered as installer version but wont change anything to your original CoH-Files.

Changelist to v1:

What was first planned as a minor bugfix and balance patch, has become a new version of BotB.
The Amount of changes is quite huge... well, heres a quick breakdown:

Most reported bugs eliminated. ( New ones added, of course http://forums.relicnews.com/images/smilies/icon_smile_wink.gif )

Problems with camping AI solved, Syncerror Problem while playing online against AI solved.

Offmap Combat Groups costs raised, stricter limits. or / and No. of squads reduced.
( Calliope for example reduced to 1 Calli, 1 Jeep , but costs reduced to 600 MP )

Sight System redone, units that move have lower visibility than stationary ones. Units that move fast have even less.
Adequately, added a Sprint Ability for all Infantry squads.

Population cap more limited and occupying territories is more important again. Forward HQs also raise Poplimit.

Scout teams redone. Now have a "stationary scouting" Option, which immobilizes them but increases their sight a lot.
Jeeps and Bikes are able to do this too, but with less range, also Scout Cars.

Buffed AT Guns. Have a camouflage , First Strike and Hold Fire ability, as well as more range and higher sight radius when ambushing.
Also redone the AT Gun crushing, light AT can now only be crushed by tanks; heavy AT by Heavy Crushers.

Repair teams redone. Now a squad of 3, able to target repairs ( can now repair ATs/Arty again )
Enter within a truck, which is needed nearby to speed up repair rate.

Fireup for most units removed. Now only can be triggered by nearby officer squads.

Infantry smoke grenades redone. Must be thrown now.

Rifemen can now upgrade with a BAR, individally, per Squad.

Numbers of almost all support units limited.

MG Nests and MG Bunkers taken away from the building menus.
Start Position MGs adapted in range to Tripod MGs. Tripod MGs range nerfed a little.

Tanks can only apply their upgrades near a repair station or Armory / Supply Yard.
Infantry can only do so near an HQ or Field HQ.

Operation Greif Sabotage teams can now infiltrate in houses.
Operation Greif Jeeps can now lay and disturb vehicle traffic.

Completely reworked veterancy. ( Not visible to player, but units gain "real life" experiences, like
faster reload times, higher sight range, less supression received, more accuracy etc )

Adjusted all tanks turret rotation speed and rate of fire to historical values, as well as introduced new penetration values which make tank-to-tank combat really dangerous.

Tank traps cant be cruhed anymore. Must be destroyed by pioneers.
Barbed Wire has a chance of destroying tracks or wheels, thus immobilizing a vehicle rolling over it.

and many more minor changes....

But the biggest change is a general elimination of the Point Capture system. Now we use ATC,
, by AGameAnx which is a script that checks the No. of units in territory, and the faction with
most units inside captures the territory after some time. Observation posts have been eliminated, too.

Some minor visual changes like complete removing of visible territory borders, veterancy ranks
will only be displayed when selecting a unit

achei ele muito bom. Basta baixar o mod (374 mb) e já vem com instalador proprio e depois executar o atalho. Testei um skirmish rapido e gostei do que vi.

Muitos mapas, muitas unidades novas, muitas funções novas


jogar um MP nele deve ser bom.

quem quiser jogar MP nele depois, só marcarmos.

é uma modificação do jogo original. È como se fosse um CoH na batalha do bulge. O instalador do mod altera muitas coisas para uso do mod. Mas nao altera em nada o jogo original. Entendeu a diferença? hehehe

Sendo assim, vc pode continuar jogando seu COH vanilla, pois o mod vem com atalho proprio.

aproveitando uns dias de folga, chuva e frio... joguei a primeira aqui de Axis

hhehe interessante lá a parte de porcentagem para capturar os pontos... confesso que tinha ficado assustado com alguns veiculos... me parece que o Stug veio modificado e tava parecendo desenho animado.. hhehe

Pessoal além desse tem algum outro mod legal? Outra coisa, em relação aos patchs, eu só tenho o COH sem o OF e está atualizado para o patch 1.71, ainda tem algum depois desse?

é bacana o mod, quebra um pouco o estilo do coh, permite que vc veja o terreno duma altura maior, mecheu tb na escala das unidades, tanques parecem menores e com melhor movimentação.

tem uma musiquinha do bf42 na introdução, junto com umas cenas coloridas, devem ser de algum filme.

ok então depois eu atualizo pra 2.301... baixei o beta pra versão 1.71 e achei legal mas estou achando que para o eixo é relativamente mais fácil pq ele já inicia com sniper,mg42, moto e americano só com squad normal... eu ainda sou muito noob pqp não consigo ganhar do pc no expert nem a pau... vou começar pelo normal heheheh

vc tem o jogo pelo Steam (eu vi na sua lista de jogos). Não precisa fazer nada pra atualizar. Apenas vá no Steam, clique com o botão direito do mouse sobre o nome link jogo. No menu que aparecer vá em propriedades. Abrirá uma janela. Na aba Updates, escola a opção 'Allways keep this game up to date'.

Assim o jogo permanecerá atualizado. Normalmente jogos pelo steam não funcionam com updates manuais.

Dark Lord... compre o jogo, cara. Vc não vai se arrepender. US$ 19,99 (aproximadamente R$ 36,00 - com o dólar de hoje a R$ 1,82). O Gold Pack (que em o CoH + a expansão Opposing Fronts) sai por R$ 55,00. Se o dolar baixar o jogo fica ainda mais barato.
