parece que a Relic viu essa ideia em algum RTS antigo e vai aplicar no MP do COH, a partir da nova expansão "Tales of Valor"

We're also looking at introducing new multiplayer vehicles into the game. You'll be able to take those vehicles and swap them out for an existing vehicle in your army, and we're introducing vehicles for all four armies in Company of Heroes and Opposing Fronts. So for example, a new vehicle is a staghound. You'll be able to swap that out for another vehicle in the British army, and it'll have different abilities and a different functionality, so it'll play a slightly different role than the existing vehicle, so you can basically customize the army to your type of game or play style.

Opposing Fronts added two new factions - the Brits and the German Panzer Elite. The US, the Commonwealth, the Wehrmacht and the Panzer Elite all feature in Tales of Valor, but there are no new additions. Instead, new units are added for each faction, such as the M18 Hellcat tank for the US, replacing the M10 Wolverine. And while the various strands of the game are being treated individually, items you unlock in single-player can be carried over into multiplayer. Each mini-campaign, meanwhile, focuses on a different force: the US, the Panzer Elite and, for the first time in single-player, the Werhmacht. There will be co-op in the Campaign, but Relic's saying nothing right now. Which applies to multiplayer in general.

The plan is that players will be able to swap between vehicles so you can make your Panzer Elite hit harder, perhaps at the expense of fast movement. For instance, as your main light tank, you might, as the British, prefer the new Staghound or the Stuart, or as Americans, the Greyhound or the Stuart. The deal is that choosing one before a battle locks out the other.and

"We're going to make the vehicles so they are comparable, so that it doesn't imbalance the game," says Wood defiantly, confident that by introducing pre-game tactics Company of Heroes' online game will be much richer for everyone. "It's a little combination of being able to out-think your opponent outside of the game that I think adds a different level of strategy and diversification." If anything has managed to keep Company of Heroes and Dawn of War fresh, it's been the diversity offered by the expansions that followed them.
