Operation: Stonewall (http://community.companyofheroesgame.com/blog-post/operation-stonewall)

An important new feature of Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor are the new multiplayer modes which we’re calling Operations. These are completely new to Company of Heroes and represent a different way of playing the game online with or against your friends. Tales of Valor will ship with three Operations, the first of which we’re talking about here on the community site is called Stonewall.

“The walls are closing in as the enemy pours through the streets. There is one option left, and that is to fight. Operation Stonewall drops you into the middle of a full scale invasion, with only a pittance remaining of your full force. You must defend a town against total annihilation at the hands of the enemy by utilizing what remaining forces you have left to the best of your commanding ability. Trade resources for helpful upgrades and demand new units from field command as you continue to fight on. Within this small town there are a few valuable resources that will greatly affect the success of your holdout against the invasion. Capture and hold key buildings in order to utilize their innate abilities of healing, manpower collection and increased population capacity. Lose these valuable assets and lose their powerful effects. This is Operation Stonewall, and you have one objective: keep the enemy out.”

Objective:

Your Headquarters is based in a small town and is coming under enemy attack. It is up to you and your allies to fend off wave after wave of enemy attacks to keep from being overrun. 1-4 players are supported.

Operation Stonewall pits you and your friends against an AI opponent. You and your allies each have one building that serves as your HQ and this is where you train all your units. Players start with a limited number of units that they can create and you must invest resources in unlocking more advanced vehicles and upgrades. Your resource income comes from simply destroying enemy units, not holding points.

AI attacks come in waves that increase in strength over time, from basic infantry clashes to full on armored assaults that feature the strongest tanks and weapons the enemy has to offer. Controlling various buildings in town will assist you in its defense, beyond simply offering cover. The following buildings allow you another place to reinforce your squads beyond your HQ, as well as granting a specific bonus:

Church: Located in the northern sector of town, the Church heals nearby units. Your infantry units will greatly benefit from a respite near this building before returning to action.

Manor: Located in the east, the Manor gives infantry a good vantage point to shoot from and also gives you a population cap bonus.

Garage: Sitting on the southern road, holding the Garage gives your Engineers or Pioneers a vehicle repair bonus. Getting your tanks back in the fight fast can be vital.

Bank: Resources can be tough to come by, and you’re going to need everything you can scrape together. Holding the bank, located in the western sector near a major intersection, gives you a bonus to your manpower income.

The enemy knows the value of these buildings and will be out to destroy them, denying you these possible bonuses. Once destroyed, these buildings, including your HQ, cannot be replaced and you’ll have to try to make do without them.

If you survive long enough you will be granted one time use abilities to help you out, such as Bombing Run, which can turn the tide of an engagement if used properly. Teamwork and communication is essential for success in Operation Stonewall, especially when it comes to using these sorts of command abilities in tandem with your ally’s efforts. For those of you that enjoy a co-operative gaming experience and some intense action, Operation Stonewall is definitely for you.

We’ll talk more about the other Operations in Tales of Valor in future updates.

Esses modos de jogo podem ser muito legais. As vezes eu jogava os Turret Defense do Starcraft que são algo semelhante a isso. Isso é muito tri, só espero que dêem suporte a novos mapas também.
